Taking LUPKYNIS

What to expect when taking LUPKYNIS

When you take LUPKYNIS as prescribed by your doctor, it can help maintain your kidney function.

While taking LUPKYNIS, routine visits with your doctor help them stay informed about your treatment progress and kidney function, and can also help them keep track of your symptoms.

Urine tests (urinalysis) monitor protein levels (proteinuria) and blood (hematuria) in the urine. Proteinuria is one of the key signs of active lupus nephritis.

Blood tests are used to check how well your kidneys are working

Routine visits ensure you're still on track with your treatment

How to take lupkynis

  • LUPKYNIS is an oral medication for the treatment of adults with active lupus nephritis.
  • LUPKYNIS must be swallowed whole on an empty stomach as close to 12 hours apart as possible (with at least 8 hours between doses)
  • If you miss a dose, take it as soon as possible within 4 hours after missing the dose.
  • If it's been longer than 4 hours, wait until the usual scheduled time to take your next regular dose—do not double your next dose.

Before starting LUPKYNIS, talk to your doctor about all the medications you are currently taking. Your doctor will determine the right dosage for you when prescribing LUPKYNIS. They will monitor you throughout the course of your treatment and may also change your dose. Always take LUPKYNIS as directed by your doctor.

A dosing schedule that fits into your life, not the other way around

Taken by mouth, not by injection

A standard dose is 3 capsules, 2x a day

Dosage schedule stays the same throughout treatment

I started taking 3 capsules twice a day and often set alarms on my phone to help me remember to take them, keeping me on track. I usually take the capsules in the morning and after dinner with a glass of water and I am loving the results I am receiving.
